Robinson Fans 66" Aluminum Homogenizer Furnace Fan Rebuild: Delivering Extended Service Life Backed By 2-year Warranty

CHALLENGE:
A large, US-based aluminum extruder approached IGE with a problem: their 66" axial fans on their slab homogenizer furnace were getting less than a year of service life between repairs. Unplanned downtime and repair costs were stacking up. They needed an economical solution to get these fans back up and running and improve service life - enter IGE's rebuild process.
RESULTS:
The fans went through IGE's 53-point inspection, including dye penetrant analysis of the existing fan wheels, to determine which components could be saved vs. needed to be replaced. The existing 6-blade axial wheels needed replacement due to extensive cracking - IGE's XFR-10-66 axial fan wheels, a 10-blade wheel designed for high performance and reliability, were selected as a direct-fit replacement for the Robinson Fans OEM wheels.
IGE completed the remaining rebuild steps, including a dynamic balance of the complete fan assembly (not just the fan wheel), and the fans were put back into service - backed by a 2-year warranty.
About a year later, the customer inspected the fans rebuilt by IGE and the fans supplied by a competitor. The results speak for themselves: "First, I want to thank you. Inspected the first fan we installed of yours. Not a single crack and the vibration reports are great. This fan was installed the same time as a competitor. The competitor fan blade is showing 12% weld failure on all fins and 50% weld failure on the face. With a vibration report at Fair/poor.
