Kaybee motors are direct drive water-cooled A/C motors designed with oversized shafts to hold heavy overhung loads. These motors provide a compact unit that eliminates the need for belt drives and a separate motor mounting structure. Kaybee motors can be mounted and operated in any position. The output shaft machining and mounting flange bolt pattern can be customized as required.
Kaybee motors are available in sizes from ¾ to 100 horsepower in 3 phase induction motor speeds of 900, 1200, 1800, 3600 RPM at a single voltage. Standard motors are 230 or 460 Volts at 60 Hz, but can be modified for special voltages and frequencies such as 190 or 380 Volts at 50 Hz. Inverter duty rated motors are also available upon request.
Kaybee heat resistant sealed motors were developed as a direct drive unit to withstand shaft temperatures up to 2100° F under pressure, vacuum and high ambient temperature conditions. The unit is ideally suited for metallurgical applications such as carburizing, nitriding, cyaniding, clean annealing and vacuum heat treating, which require both high temperature and gas tight sealing.
The unique liquid-cooled design of the Kaybee motor winding and shaft prevents heat conduction to the bearings and allows for continuous operation in high ambient temperatures. It also allows for hermetic sealing to be achieved without the use of expensive, high maintenance mechanical seals because the motor does not require a through-shaft for the cooling fan. Mating flanges are sealed with o-rings and the bearings are regreasable. Lubrication and proper water flow is the only maintenance required for the life of the motor.
