Challenge

During a planned furnace turnaround, a pharmaceutical glass producer discovered their legacy Garden City Fan RF2 was beyond repair - extreme corrosion had compromised the structure entirely. With no original drawings or specifications available and the furnace scheduled to restart in five weeks, they had no clear path to a replacement.

Results

IGE's application engineering and production teams reverse-engineered the replacement unit from scratch - working without drawings or original specifications to recreate the fan geometry, determine the appropriate materials for the operating environment, and design a production-ready solution on an accelerated timeline. The team also incorporated several design improvements in the process, including repositioning the outlet orientation for better maintenance access going forward. The completed 100HP replacement radial fan was shipped in under four weeks - delivering the customer a better unit than the original, on a timeline that kept their furnace restart on schedule.
